When the afternoon runs hot and the day has been all sharp edges, this is the rose-pink cup to slow down with. Sip it warm, or cooled to room temperature after a spicy meal, mid-afternoon, or as the drink that closes out a demanding workday. In Ayurveda, the traditional wellness system of India, blends are matched to the body-type traditions called doshas. A cooling, floral cup like this is associated with the pitta type and the heat of pitta season in high summer.

Hibiscus (a tart, ruby-red flower) and rose petals give the cup its color and a soft floral tartness. Peppermint brings a cooling edge, and licorice root with a touch of ginger rounds it sweet and warm. It brews a deep rose-red. We blend and pack it in small batches in Portland, with no salt, no sugar, and no preservatives.

In the hot months, Ayurvedic cooks lean toward sweet, cooling, floral tastes and away from heating spice. Steep it hot and let it settle to lukewarm, or fill a jar in the morning and sip it through the afternoon.

Ingredients: rose petals, peppermint, hibiscus, licorice root, ginger. Caffeine-free. No salt, no sugar, no preservatives. Vegan.

How do I brew it?
Use one teaspoon per eight ounces of water. Heat fresh water to around 200°F, pour it over the tea, and steep for five minutes. Use fresh leaves each time you brew.

What does it taste like?
Floral and tart from hibiscus and rose, with a cooling wash of peppermint. Licorice root and a little ginger add a natural sweetness, so it tastes rounded without any added sugar.

When should I drink it?
Any time you want something cooling and unhurried: after a spicy meal, through a hot afternoon, or in the evening. It is caffeine-free, so the timing is yours.

Is it good iced?
Yes. Brew it strong, let it cool, and pour it over ice. The rose and mint stay bright and refreshing cold.

Is it only for pitta types?
The name comes from the Ayurvedic tradition of matching blends to season and type. Drink it whenever you like a cooling, floral, rose-red cup, no dosha knowledge needed.

Grace X. ★★★★★

I've started steeping this after spicy dinners and it genuinely settles my stomach. Cooling it to room temperature works just as well as drinking it warm, which is nice on a hot afternoon.

Matthew ★★★★★

I've been drinking this cooled to room temperature after dinner and it's become my little ritual. The rose-pink color in the cup is oddly calming, and it's gentle enough that I don't feel wired afterward. It's also become my go-to on those afternoons when the day has been all sharp edges, since it's

Avery D. ★★★☆☆

The rose-pink color is lovely and it's genuinely soothing after a spicy meal, but the flavor is milder than I hoped. Steeping it longer helped a bit, though I still reach for it more for the ritual than the taste.
